Soul Signs Lineman Delbert Cowsette And Quarterback Leon Murray

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Soul have signed DL Delbert Cowsette and QB Leon Murray. They have also placed waived WR Steve Gonzalez and released QB Clint Stoerner.
Cowsette (6'2", 300, Maryland) began the season with the New York Dragons and started six games before being waived. He recorded 6.5 tackles including 1.5 tackles for losses and one sack. He began his AFL career last season with the Dragons and started 15 games. Cowsette recorded 15.5 tackles, five tackles for losses, five sacks, two pass breakups and three forced fumbles with two fumble recoveries. He was named to the League's All-Rookie team in 2006. Before joining the Dragons he spent two seasons in the NFL with the Washington Redskins. In his two seasons with Washington he played in 30 games and recorded 28 total tackles and two sacks.
Murray (6'3, 210, Tennessee State) comes to the Soul after beginning the season with the New York Dragons. While with the Dragons he completed 8-of-18 passes for 64 yards despite throwing one interception. Prior to joining the Dragons he spent two seasons with the Nashville Kats as well as the Georgia Force. He was the starting quarterback for the Kats in 2005, completing 250-of-416 passes for 2,851 yards with 48 touchdowns despite 10 interceptions. Murray was named to the League's All-Rookie team while with Georgia in spite of playing only eight games.
