Utah Blaze News Release

SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah Blaze announce a couple of roster moves as the Arena Football League's trading deadline passed yesterday. The Blaze acquired DB JACOBY SHEPHERD (6-1, 192, Oklahoma State) from the Dallas Desperados for future considerations.

The second-year franchise also signed free-agent DL THADDEUS BULLARD (6-3, 270, Florida). Terms of the contract were not disclosed due to team policy.

"(Thaddeus) Bullard and (Jacoby) Shepherd will bring us depth at key areas," Blaze head coach and general manager DANNY WHITE said. "It is important this time of year to stock up where you can and make a push toward the postseason. We look for each of those guys to step in and contribute to that effort."

In 2007, Shepherd has recorded 6.5 total tackles while playing in two games for Dallas. The former OSU Cowboy, who is in his second AFL season, has 18.0 total tackles, a forced fumble and one interception in his career. Bullard, who did not see action with the Tampa Bay Storm earlier this season, has 54.0 total tackles, 4.5 sacks, seven passes defensed, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries during his five seasons in the AFL with Carolina, Las Vegas and Tampa Bay.

In other moves, the Blaze placed OL TYSHAUN WHITSON (6-0, 191, Portland State) and FB/LB FRANK CARTER (6-0, 258, MacMurray) on injured reserve and activated OL MYNIYA SMITH (6-5, 364, Southern) from the injured reserve list.
