The Soo Eagles will travel to Springfield, Illinois this weekend, where they will face the Springfield Jr. Blues on Friday, October 11 at 7:05 p.m. (CST) and Saturday, October 12 at 7:05 p.m. (CST), at the Nelson Center.
The Eagles collected two points last weekend, in their weekend series against the first-place Port Huron Fighting Falcons, at Pullar Stadium, earning a shootout victory on Friday night, 3-2, before falling to the Falcons on Saturday, 2-1. Springfield earned one points last weekend, as they fell to the Johnstown Tomahawks, 3-2, on Friday night, and that same score on Saturday night, in a shootout.
The Eagles currently sit in 3rd place (3-3-3) with 9 points, in the North American Hockey League's North Division, seven points behind the first place Port Huron . Springfield is also in 3rd place (4-3-1) and have one game in hand on the Eagles. Despite being in the same division, the Eagles and Jr. Blues will face each other two more times this season, March 28-29, 2014 at Pullar Stadium.
The Eagles are led in scoring by forward Jacob McDowell, who in nine games this season has four goals and two assists, and forward Brad Pung, who has collected three goals and three assists on the season. Ryan Urso is (2-3- 5) and AJ Jarosz is (1-4- 5).
The Jr. Blues are led is scoring by forward Patrick Curry, who has three goals and three assists in six games played this season. Davis Dekorte has two goals and three assists for Springfield, while Kyle Shreve is (2-3- 5).
Soo Eagles goaltender, Paige Skoog, carries a 2-2-0-1 record into this weekend's series, with a goals against average of 1.78 and a save percentage of .944. Colin Brennan is 1-1-0-2 with a GAA of 2.35 and a SVP of .930.
Sandro Aeschlimann is 3-1-0-0 in net for Springfield, with a goals against average of 2.16 and a save percentage of .926. Stefanos Lekkas is 1-2-0-1, with a GAA of 2.64 and a SVP of .919. The Eagles will return home to Pullar Stadium on October 18-19, when they will face the Wennatchee Wild for the first of four meetings this season.
