Sol Trims Opening Day Roster To 20 Players

CARSON, CALIFORNIA - Wednesday, March 25, 2009 - The Los Angeles Sol of Women's Professional Soccer will open its Inaugural Season this Sunday against the Washington Freedom with 20 players on its roster (17 senior players + 3 developmental), including U.S. National team standout Shannon Boxx and three-time FIFA Player of the Year Marta, the club announced today.

Along with Boxx and Marta, the Sol also features Stephanie Cox and Aly Wagner, Boxx's U.S. teammates on the gold medal-winning side at the Beijing Olympics, as well as Japanese International Aya Miyama, Chinese dynamo Han Duan, France's Camile Abily and a host of up-and-coming young players.

The WPS Inaugural Match between the Sol and the Freedom will be at 3 pm Sunday at The Home Depot Center on the campus of California State University-Dominguez Hills and will be the only one played in WPS this weekend.

Individual game and season tickets for the 2009 Sol season are already on sale at the Home Depot Center Box Office and Ticketmaster.com. Season ticket packages start at just $105 for all ten home games. Mini-plans of 5 and 3 games, and group tickets are also available now.
