
Freedom announces opening day roster

BOYDS, Md. (March 25) - With the Washington Freedom set to take part in the WPS Inaugural Match against the Los Angeles Sol at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. at 6 p.m. ET on Sunday, the team announced it has cut its roster down to the league mandated 22 players (18 players with 4 developmental players).
The roster was built in five steps - U.S. national team allocation, International player draft, a 4-round draft in October, a 10-round draft in January and tryouts.
After Sunday's match against the Sol, Washington will play the University of Virginia in a Kicks Against Breast Cancer charity exhibition match at the Maryland SoccerPlex on April 4 at 7 p.m. before playing its first home game on April 11 at 6 p.m. against the Chicago Red Stars.
