PISCATAWAY, NJ - June 13, 2009 - The Los Angeles Sol (Women's Professional Soccer) and Sky Blue FC (NJ/NY) played to a scoreless draw at Yurcak Field on the campus of Rutgers University. The Sol's maintains a firm grasp on first place in WPS with a 7-1-4 record (25 pts), while Sky Blue improves 2-5-3 (9 points).

The rain clearly affected play from outset, as both teams struggled to complete passes on the soggy field. Sky Blue had the better of the play in the early, with Natasha Kai, Hosana and Heather O'Reilly all taking shots in the first five minutes. However, none of them troubled Sol goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc.

In the 11th minute, the Sol nearly went ahead when midfielder Aly Wagner served a long ball into the box that troubled Sky Blue ‘keeper Jenni Branham, who was able to push it out of harm's way at the last possible instant. Four minutes later, Kai ran on to ball long ball from Kacey White and struck a low ball that beat LeBlanc but rattled the left post and the game remaining scoreless.

After the teams traded chances for the better part of 30 minutes, Sky Blue nearly jumped on top just before the interval when Hosana uncorked a right-footed blast that went just wide of LeBlanc's and the teams headed to the locker rooms in a scoreless deadlock.

The second half belonged to the home team; Sky Blue outshot the Sol by a 7-2 margin, but was unable to get a shot pat LeBlanc, who recorded her league-best eighth shutout.

The Los Angeles Sol hosts FC Gold Pride (Bay Area) on Sunday, June 21 at 3pm at The Home Depot Center on the Campus of Cal State Dominguez Hills. For more information or to purchase tickets today, please call toll free at 1-877-4-SOL-TIX (476-5849) or visit www.LosAngelesSol.com.
