Sod Poodles Opening Homestand Brings More Than Just Affiliated Baseball Back to Amarillo

AMARILLO, Texas - On Monday, April 8, affiliated baseball returns to the Texas panhandle after a 37-year hiatus when the Amarillo Sod Poodles take the field at HODGETOWN and open their inaugural season against the Midland RockHounds - Double-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics - for a three-game set. On Thursday, April 11, the Sod Poodles will face off against the Corpus Christi Hooks - Double-A affiliate of the Houston Astros - in a four-game series.

The Sod Poodles will host their first-ever home game at HODGETOWN on April 8 in front of a 7,000 plus sold-out crowd with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to the stadium with gates opening two hours prior to first pitch at 5:00 p.m. Every fan in attendance will receive a commemorative ticket presented by Jerry and Margaret Hodge upon entry to the park. After the matchup between the Sod Poodles and RockHounds and upon exit, fans will also receive a 2019 Magnet Schedule presented by Double D Roofing.

On Tuesday, April 9, Amarillo will continue their series against division-rival Midland on a $2 Tuesday, where fans will be able to purchase $2 select seats (based on availability), Lawn and Standing Room Only tickets for the 7:05 p.m. matchup. The following night, Wednesday, April 10 is the first-ever Weiner Wednesday where fans can enjoy $1 hot dogs at concessions inside the ballpark.

The inaugural Thirsty Thursday presented by Barnes Jewelry of the 2019 season will take place on Thursday, April 11 when the Sod Poodles welcome Corpus Christi to HODGETOWN for a first of four games against the Hooks. Sod Poodles fans will be able to enjoy $2 fountain sodas and $2 domestic beers for the 7:05 p.m. start time between the Sod Poodles and Hooks. In addition to Thirsty Thursday, fans will have the chance to receive a 2019 Magnet Schedule presented by Double D Roofing upon exit.

On Friday, April 12, the Sod Poodles will host their first Friday Fireworks Night of 2019 presented by FirstBank Southwest. The fireworks show will take place following the conclusion of the game. After the fireworks show, fans will have the chance to receive a 2019 Magnet Schedule when they exit HODGETOWN.

On Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14, the Sod Poodles wrap up their opening homestand against Corpus Christi with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch on Saturday and the first daytime game of the season with a 1:05 p.m. first pitch slated for Sunday. On Sunday, April 14, gates will open early at 11:00 a.m. and the first 1,000 fans to enter HODGETOWN will receive a 2019 Team Poster presented by Globe-News to get autographed by all Sod Poodles coaches and players from 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on the field. Additionally, the first 2,000 fans will receive a Clear Plastic Tote Bag presented by IV Rejuvenation Station when entering through HODGETOWN gates. Following the game, Sod Pups Club Members will have the opportunity to run the bases.
