
Sockers visit Lone Star State, looking for a win

The Sockers travel to Dallas this Saturday to face the Sidekicks in the first of three consecutive road games. This weekend's match-up is the last regular season meeting between the teams. San Diego leads the season series, 3-2, with Dallas taking the last game in San Diego, 7-5. A win on Saturday will mark the third consecutive season the Sockers have taken the series.
Dallas (13-9) is two games ahead of the Sockers in the Western Division. Leading the team on offense, David Doyle has 19 goals and 14 assists, followed by Nick Stavrou with 17 goals and 19 assists. Defensively, Kiley Couch holds the team's top spot with 36 blocks in 18 games played. Dallas goalkeeper Sagu is second in the league in wins and first in saves (271). In Dallas' last game, Sagu held the Philadelphia KiXX scoreless, stopping 7 shots faced.
San Diego (10-10), coming off a 7-2 routing of the Kansas City Comets, looks to avenge their 5-7 loss to Dallas. The last time the teams met in Dallas, San Diego came away with a 6-4 win.
With 11 goals and 16 assists, Paul Wright leads the Sockers' scoring arsenal. Veteran Sean Bowers is San Diego's biggest defensive threat with 60 blocks on the season, leading the league. Casey Nogueira, the daughter of Sockers' goalkeeper Victor Nogueira, has been invited to take part in the U-16 Girls U.S. National Team training beginning January 30. Casey playes forward and will be training along with 23 other girls at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. Good luck Casey!!
WHO IS GOING TO BE YOUR VALENTINE?
The San Diego Sockers return to the San Diego Sports Arena Saturday, February 14 to face the 2002-03 MISL Champion Baltimore Blast. Not only will the game feature two teams with a series of heated rivalries from the past, fans will also have the opportunity to call one of their Sockers' players their valentine. That's right! Eligible Sockers' players will be involved in a Valentine's Day raffle, with the winners getting a chance to go on a date with such Sockers as Nino DaSilva, Kevin Sakuda and Riley Swift. Fans must enter their name and be present at the game on February 14 for the chance to win your very own Sockers' valentine. Bring your friends and family and see who scores!
