Sockers Lose To Cleveland Force at Cool School Event

SAN DIEGO--The San Diego Sockers lose to the Cleveland Force, 16-12, in front of 4,784 school children at the San Diego Sports Arena. The game was the Second Annual Cool School Field Trip, with more school children (k-8) coming to the game and participating in a Health and Safety Expo.

The Cleveland Force was the first to score when Kiley Couch hit a two-pointer off an assist from Lee Edgerton at 3:07 in the first period. Aaron Susi tied things up with an unassisted goal at 9:57 in the first. Carlos ³Chile² Farias kept the Sockers going with a goal at 12:13 in the first, off an assist from Mariano Bollella. Cleveland¹s Chris Stathopoulos scored at 12:25, taking the first quarter to 4-4.

Cleveland took the lead in the second when Joe Mattacchione scored an unassisted three-pointer from midfield (0:22). Giuliano Olivierio added to the Cleveland total with a goal at 4:25 off an assist from Steve Butcher. Farias answered back with an unassisted goal at 10:04, followed shortly by Matthew Stewart at 10:28.

Neither team could find the goal in the third period, despite a combined 17 shots on goal. John Ball started things in the fourth with a goal at 4:07 off an assist by Kiley Couch. Mariano Bollella responded at 4:55, followed by Alejandro Cardenas at 5:54. Assists by Gaston Pernia and Farias, respectively.

Stathopoulos kicked the game-winning goal at 13:11 in the fourth. Eric Kvello scored the final goal with a three-pointer at 14:02.

Jim Larkin took the win in the net for the Cleveland Force with 19 saves, while DJ Horvath took the loss with 12 saves.

The Sockers are back in action tomorrow night at the Sports Arena, when they take on the Milwaukee Wave at 7 p.m.
