The Sockers return for game three of a four-game homestand, this time against the Cleveland Force. The first 5,000 fans will receive free Thunder Stix, courtesy of Hyundai. U.S. National Team member Shannon MacMillan will also be on-hand to present the Jerome's Soccer Mom of the Year award at halftime.

About the Opponent

The Cleveland Force return to San Diego after closing out the 2002-03 season with a second place finish in the Major Indoor Soccer League Eastern Conference, losing to the Philadelphia KiXX in the Eastern Conference finals.

Forward Lee Edgerton returns after scoring 61 points for the Force last season. Ato Leone joins the team after spending 2002-03 with the Harrisburg Heat. Leone was second on the team with 87 points. Jim Larkin returns in the net for the Force after playing in 35 games last season. Larkin totaled 527 saves on 713 shots faced.

The Force opened the season last weekend with a 6-5 win at Dallas. Edgerton led the team with two goals, while soccer legend Hector Marinaro totaled two blocks. The Sockers were 0-5 against the Force last season.

A win this week would:
- Snap the Sockers five-game losing skid (dating back to last season).
- Mark the Sockers first win against the Cleveland Force since joining the MISL.

The Power of Bowers

Sockers defender Sean Bowers is eighth all-time with 909 blocks and is only 11 blocks from moving into seventh.

Zoran With The Sockers

Karic is no stranger to the Sports Arena. A member of the Sockers from 1987-90, Karic totaled 122 points with the team.

Beware, Wright is Back

Halloween marks the return of Sockers midfielder Paul Wright. Wright returns after serving a three-game suspension from last season.

The One-Point System Is Back

The Major Indoor Soccer League announced that the League will return to the one-point scoring system for the 2003-04 season. Prior to this decision, a multi-point scoring system was in place, allowing three and two-point goals. The former scoring system was used since the 1988-89 American Indoor Association (AISA) season and continued through the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL) and newly-formed MISL.

New Playoff Format

The MISL has adopted a new playoff format that expands the League Finals to a best-of-five series that will be featured on Fox Sports World. Six of the nine teams will have the opportunity at the championship, with the top teams in each division receiving an automatic bid. Remaining slots are filled by three teams with the best regular-season record. The first two rounds remain single elimination.
