San Diego Sockers News Release
SAN DIEGO - The 14-time champion San Diego Sockers will begin preparations for their 2019-20 Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) season by conducting two sessions of their annual open tryouts at the Sockers Indoor Center in late September and early November.
The first tryout camp will be held on Saturday, September 21 and Sunday, September 22 from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. The second open tryout session will be conducted on Saturday, November 2 and Sunday, November 3 from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Players interested in participating in the tryouts must be 18+ years old with a valid I.D. to register. There is a one- time non-refundable $75 registration fee, and attendance is mandatory for both days of the weekend to have a chance to be called back for the final tryout phase at the start of the Sockers Training Camp in early November.
Sockers Head Coach Phil Salvagio, Player Personnel Director Chiky Luna, and General Manager Sean Bowers will be overseeing the tryouts. "The tryouts give us an opportunity to scout local talent and to help continue building the pipeline of players for the first team," said Bowers. "The process of having over 70 players in a highly competitive situation has been successful in the past and we expect the same to be the case this year."
The Sockers will open their 24-game MASL season in November. Pechanga Arena San Diego will host the team's 12 home games. Sockers Season Memberships are available now by visiting Sockers.com/Membership or by contacting by Sockers Ticket Director Marybeth Hughes at 760-795-0017 or via email at Marybeth@SDSockers.com.
