
Sockers add midfielder, Elbaum

SAN DIEGO, Calif.  The San Diego Sockers announced today that they have signed midfielder Joshua Elbaum for the remainder of the 2004 MISL season. The Denver, Colorado native came to the Sockers on an open tryout and caught the eye of Sockers¹ Head Coach Brian Quinn.
³Joshua is a player that came out and impressed me, and I believe he will be a nice addition to the Sockers for the season and the future,² said Quinn.
Elbaum,22, played collegiate soccer at Oregon State University and for Metro State College. He has never signed to a professional team but has had extensive outdoor training with the Major Soccer League and the A-League. As part of the MSL¹s Colorado Rapids, he traveled to Portugal to play against international clubs and also spent time on the A-League¹s Portland Timbers.
He could see his first action with the Sockers against Western Division rivals, the Dallas Sidekicks. The game takes place on Saturday, January 31 at Reunion Arena in Dallas. The Sockers trail the Sidekicks by one and a half games and the game marks their final regular-season meeting. The Sockers lead the season series, 3-2.
