Snowbears continue to roll

December 1, 2004 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Utah Snowbears News Release

Salt Lake City, UT. The ABA Utah Snowbears extended their record to 6-0 with a 127-101 win over the Fresno Heatwave. No matter who Ike Austin looks to on his roster, on any given night he can find an answer to any question an opponent can ask.

Tonight, the answer was Tyrone Hayes, and the question was, "Who can get me 23 points and 6 rebounds off the bench and create a highlight reel breakaway slam dunk?" Hayes, from Idaho, responded when called upon to lead the Snowbears to an unblemished record in the ABA Red Division. Clay Tucker added 17 points. Demetrius Porter dropped in 29 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for Fresno, while Myron Allen added 22 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists in the losing effort. The loss left Fresno at 3-3.

Hayes had stretches where he dominated the boards, hit three pointers, blocked shots and got the crowd to its feet with a tomahawk slam on a breakaway and a slam off an ally oop pass from Dino Turner in the 4th quarter. Utah had 7 players in double figures. It was an exciting game - and now the Snowbears head to Ontario California for games with the Warriors Wednesday and Friday.
