Warriors' comeback attempts fall short

December 1, 2004 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Ontario Warriors News Release

Ontario, CA. A night that featured rim rocking slams, alley oops, and fast paced offense, free throw shooting was the difference. After jumping out to a 26 point lead in the second quarter, and again in the third, the Orange County Crush (1-1) fought off several runs by the Ontario Warriors (3-2) and claimed a 126-114 victory in the first game of what should be an exciting crosstown rivalry.

The Warriors shot well from the floor, but only dropped in 45% of their free throws, compared to 82% for the Crush, which proved to be the differenc in the game.

Curtis Slaughter and Marcus Mason woke up the Warriors scoring in the second half and each finished with 19 points. Jelani Janisse kept the Warriors within striking distance all night and led all scorers with 23 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. 'DA' Derrick Andrew put in a long night at 41 minutes and finished with 16 points and 5 boards.

The Crush got a good balance of scoring, lead by former Trojan Jerry Dupree with 20 points. Derrick Dial added 19, Damian Cantrell 17, Joacquin Hawkins 16, and former NBA star Sean Rooks 15.

The Warriors are back in action tonight against undefeated Utah. The game will be at Colony High School in Ontario at 7:30 PM.
