Snakes Split On Road, Play Four Games In Six Days This Week

COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Columbus Cottonmouths fell 4-1 in Huntsville Tuesday night, dropping their third consecutive road game, but bounced back with a crucial 4-2 win over the Louisiana Ice Gators Friday. The Snakes face a tough schedule this week, traveling to Pensacola Tuesday, returning home to face the Havoc Friday, traveling to Knoxville Saturday, and returning home for a rematch with Huntsville on Sunday. Both games will be broadcast on B2 Networks with both a video and audio feed, with a nominal fee for each game. A free audio-only webcast of the games is also available. Tuesday, Feb. 23 - Columbus at Pensacola, 8:05 PM EST (Season Series vs. PEN: 3-2-2)

Columbus travels to Pensacola, Fla. to face the hometown Ice Flyers on Tuesday night. Though the Snakes have struggled on the road this season, going 4-14-3, two of those victories came in Pensacola, including a 2-1 victory during the Snakes last visit to Florida.

Friday, Feb. 26 - Huntsville at Columbus, 7:30 PM EST (Season Series vs. HUN: 1-5-1)

The Snakes picked up their first victory of the season over the Havoc earlier this month, and hope to have more success against them in the final two months of the season. The Havoc has fallen from a commanding lead in first, to third place in the SPHL standings. Huntsville is 2-8-3 in their last 13 games. PROMOTIONS: Military Appreciation Night, presented by TIC and the Columbus Airport.

Saturday, Feb. 27 - Columbus at Knoxville, 7:35 PM EST (Season Series vs. KNX: 3-2-2)

The Snakes started the season strong against the Ice Bears, going 3-0 against the two-time defending league champions. Since then, the Snakes have gone 0-2-2 in their last four games against Knoxville and hope to get back on the winning track Saturday.

Sunday, Feb. 28 - Huntsville at Columbus, 4:00 PM EST (Season Series vs. HUN: 1-5-1)

The Snakes will have a rematch with the Havoc Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. This will be the Snakes third game in three nights, and fourth game in six days. PROMOTIONS: Burger King Kid's DayStop by area Burger Kings to pick up a free child's ticket to this game.

Tuesday, February 16 - Columbus 1 at Huntsville 4 (Attendance: 2,006)

The Columbus Cottonmouths dropped their third consecutive road game, falling to the Havoc 4-1 Tuesday night. After a scoreless first period, Jason Hill gave the Havoc a 1-0 lead midway through the second period. Ryan McCarthy got the Snakes on the board, tying the game with a goal at 1:08 of the third period, assisted by Tommy McMonagle and Sam Bowles. Just under two minutes later, Dennis Sicard put the Havoc back on top. The Havoc added an insurance goal with 13 minutes remaining, and buried the empty-netter for a 4-1 victory. Ian Vigier took the loss for the Snakes, stopping 34 of 37 shots. The Snakes were 0 for 1 on the powerplay, while Huntsville was 0 for 4.

Friday, February 19 - Columbus 4 at Louisiana 2 (Attendance: 412)The Snakes snapped a five-game road losing streak by doubling up the Louisiana IceGators 4-2 on Friday night at Blackham Coliseum. Jesse Cole and Sam Bowles broke a 2-2 tie with goals late in the third period to provide the margin of victory. Brent Clarke and Tim Green also scored once each. Ian Vigier was the winning goaltender for Columbus with 34 saves on 36 shots, while A.J. Bucchino took the loss in net for the 'Gators with 32 saves on 36 shots on goal. The Cottonmouths were 0 for 6 on the power play while Louisiana was 2 for 5 with the man advantage.

THREE STARS OF THE WEEK

1. F Jesse Cole - Cole's breakaway goal gave the Snakes a 3-2 lead in Louisiana Friday and proved to be the game-winner.

2. F Sam Bowles - Bowles had an assist on the Snakes lone goal Tuesday, and added a breakaway goal late in the third period Friday, sealing the victory for the Snakes.

3. G Ian Vigier - Vigier went 1-1 on the week, stopping 68 of 73 shots faced. He made several key saves Friday, securing the victory for Columbus.
