Williamsport Outlaws News Release

WILLIAMSPORT - Matt Smyth and Rob Sich both tallied hat-tricks in the Outlaws 8-2 win over the Danville Dashers in front of a rocking packed house at Airmen Pond at Historic Bowman Field.

Newly added Jeff Winchester made his presence known early with his first goal and point with the Outlaws this season at the 5:02 mark of the first period, with the Outlaws on the power play. Matt Smyth picked up the second assist to extend his point streak to seven games.

Ryan Huggett beat Chris Whitley moments later to tie the game for the Dashers, but the tie didn't last long as Rob Sich would knock home a garbage goal on the power play to give the Outlaws a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission.

Smyth continued the scoring for the Outlaws with two consecutive goals in the second period, to give the Outlaws a 4-1 lead. Rob Sich would tally his second goal in the later stages of the period to give the Outlaws a 5-1 lead.

Jamie Zaleski scored his fourth goal of the season, and fourth game in three games to give the Outlaws a 6-1 lead heading into the second intermission.

The second period saw three fights in the matter of a minute, as the frustration and the hard hitting style of play boiled over.

Looking for their first hat-trick of the season as a team, the Outlaws didn't have to wait long into the third period, as Smyth would notch his third goal, and fourth point of the night at the :36 mark of the period giving the Outlaws a 7-1 lead.

Moments later, Sich would beat the goaltender for his third goal of the night, and the Outlaws first shorthanded goal and point of the season. Chris Leveille got the first shorthanded assist on the play.

Chris Whitley was stellar between the pipes, turning away 41 of 43 Danville shots in the win.

The Outlaws were 4 for 5 on the penalty kill and were a perfect 4 for 4 on the power play against Danville.
