Knoxville Smokies News Release
KODAK, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies, the Double-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, conclude the first half of their 2012 schedule with a five-game series with the Birmingham Barons, the Double-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, stating Wednesday, June 13. Come join us at Smokies Park as we cheer on the Smokies and enjoy another Buck Night, All Things Chicago Night and a special Father's Day "Play catch with Dad."
We kick things off at 7:15 on Wednesday with another Buck Night, where hot dogs, small sodas and small popcorns are only $1 each. Tennessee First Lady Crissy Haslam will visit Smokies Park to promote her Read 20 Family Book Club. Haslam will donate copies of Andrew Clements' Frindle, to be distributed to the first 200 children to enter the game. All residents and employees of Blount County can show their ID's and pay stubs to the box office and receive a $2 discount on any regular priced field level or bleacher tickets, presented by the Maryville Daily Times.
On Thursday, the Smokies will be playing at 12:00 noon for our annual Day Care Day and Super Splash Day. All residents and employees of Knox County can show their ID's and pay stubs to the box office and receive a $2 discount on any regular priced field level or bleacher tickets, presented by the Knoxville News Sentinel and CW20.
"All Things Chicago" night is Friday at Smokies Park. Make sure to get to the 7:15 game early, as the first 800 kids 12-and-under will receive a free baseball, courtesy of the US Forest Service and Cherokee National Forest. If you're in the mood for Chicago-style food, the Smokies concessions will be selling some of Chicago's favorite cuisine at Smokies Park. Stick around after the game for another fantastic fireworks extravaganza, presented by the Knoxville News Sentinel, Pepsi, Coors Light, WIVK 107.7 and WVLT TV-8.
Don't miss your chance to see one of the most entertaining nerds in baseball for Saturday's 6:15 game, as Myron Noodleman makes an appearance at Smokies Park! It's also Pink Ribbon Survivor Night; we'll honor breast cancer survivors with a pre-game ceremony, then raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation by auctioning off special game-used jerseys following the game. Show off your big league arm with our postgame tennis ball toss, sponsored by Fast Frame!
It's Father's Day on Sunday, and we'll celebrate for the 5:00 game by paying tribute to our favorite superheroes as part of Superhero Night! Bring a glove and head to the park early, as we're letting you play catch with dad on the field from 3:30-4:30.
