FIRE OFFENSE HEATS UP: The Fire offense put on a show Saturday night in Albany racking up 86 points on their way to an 86-66 victory. The Fire's 86 points is a team record for points in a game. Fire QB Brett Dietz set the af2 record for passing touchdowns in a game with 12. Dietz also completed 23-31 passes for 314 yards and zero interceptions. Offensive specialist Rob Mager caught 11 passes for 168 yards and six touchdowns. Wide receiver/defensive back Lance Taylor racked up 225 all-purpose yards. Taylor caught six passes for 71 yards and three touchdowns, rushed five times for 23 yards and a touchdown and returned five kicks for 123 yards. Dennis Fryzel also had two catches, both for touchdowns.
DIETZ ON RECORDING BREAKING PACE: Fire QB Brett Dietz is currently on pace set a new af2 record for touchdown passes in a season. Dietz currently leads af2 with 71 touchdown passes. Dietz is currently on pace for 102 touchdowns which would break the af2 mark of 99 set by Matt Sauk last season.
NORTHEAST SWING CONTINUES: The Fire will head back to the northeast this weekend for a divisional showdown with the Manchester Wolves. The Wolves defeated the Fire 39-34 on April 14 in Freedom Hall. The last time the two teams met in Manchester the Fire won 69-56 in the second round of the 2005 playoffs.
FIRE MAINTAINS HOLD ON SECOND: The Fire's victory secured their hold on second place in the East Division. The Fire and Green Bay have identical 6-5 records, but the Fire currently holds the tie-breaker having defeated the Blizzard on April 29 45-39.
