Smith Smashes Grand Slam in Advanced-A Debut

Butler, PA - July 27, 2012 - Former BlueSox catcher and Seneca Valley graduate Kevan Smith was promoted to the Class- dvanced Carolina League's Winston-Salem Dash this week and hit a grand slam in his Thursday debut for the Dash.

Smith hit the bases loaded jack in the 6th inning and added an RBI single in the 2nd inning to round out a five-RBI night.

Before being promoted to Winston-Salem, Smith started the year in Kannapolis where he played in 85 games hitting .280 with seven home runs, 26 doubles, and 60 RBIs.

He was the MVP of the Pioneer League Championship in 2011 for the Great Falls Voyagers Advanced Rookie ball team.

The Cranberry Township native played in 46 games for Butler in 2010. He hit .347 with 10 doubles, one home run, and 30 RBIs. He was also named a Prospect League All-Star.
