Smith Recalled by Rockets

MCALLEN, TEXAS - The defending NBA Development League champion Rio Grande Valley Vipers announced Monday that the Houston Rockets have recalled point guard Ishmael Smith (6-0, 175, Wake Forest) from the Vipers.

Smith played in four games (four starts) for the Vipers during this assignment, averaging 12.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 8.8 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.8 blocks. He recorded two double-doubles, including a career-high 13 assists to go with 10 points and a career-high tying six rebounds at New Mexico on Saturday. Overall, Smith is averaging 12.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 7.9 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.2 blocks in eight games (five starts) with the Vipers.

Smith is averaging 2.8 points, 1.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 12.0 minutes in 26 games (three starts) for the Rockets.
