
Smalls Assigned to Knights for 2003 Season

MACON, Ga. â The Macon Knights announced today that Denario Smalls has been assigned to the team for the 2003 season. Smalls, a Defensive Specialist, will return for his third season with the Knights.
In 2001, Smalls (5-10, 190, East Tennessee State) played in seven games recording 50 tackles, six interceptions (one returned for a touchdown) and 19 pass breakups.
In 2002, Smalls played in each of the Macon Knights' 18 games and led the team with 81 tackles (69 unassisted). Smalls also recorded seven interceptions, 22 pass breakups, six forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. Before being converted to a Defensive Specialist last season, Smalls played 12 games as a Wide Receiver/Defensive Back. Smalls caught 19 passes for 187 yards and three touchdowns. He also returned two field goals for 39 yards and returned four kickoffs for 94 yards and one touchdown.
In Week 18, Smalls was named arenafootball2's ADT Defensive Player of the Week after recording eight unassisted tackles, two interceptions and three pass breakups against the Tennessee Valley Vipers.
