Buffalo Beauts News Release
The Buffalo Beauts have added a top defender with the signing of Iveta Klimášová, a member of Slovakia's Women's National Team since 2014.
"Iveta is a dominant force on the ice, with great size, a strong shot, and a relentless work ethic," said Buffalo general manager Mandy Cronin. "We couldn't be happier to have Iveta on the Beauts' blue line this season."
With the national team, the 21-year-old Klimášová has participated in one Olympic qualification tournament, as well as five different IIHF Women's World Championships - one played at the Division I-B level and four in Division I-A. Klimášová served as an alternate captain in 2018. In 25 games between the six World Championships, Klimášová had five goals and five assists. She helped Slovakia take gold at 2017's Division I-B competition.
In 60 league games with SKP Bratislava in the Elite Women's Hockey League, the 5-8 defender tallied 28 goals and 16 assists for 44 points. In Slovakia's women's league, Klimášová has played for SKP and HC Spisska Nová Ves. Between both teams, she was 33-38-71 in just 36 games.
"I cherish this opportunity to be part of the Buffalo Beauts and getting the chance to compete in the NWHL for the Isobel Cup," said Klimášová. "It is a great honor for me to be one of the first players from Slovakia in NWHL in history. I look forward to an extraordinary season for my first time as a professional player. I am grateful to all the people who have been with me all my career so far."
