Buffalo Beauts News Release
When the Buffalo Beauts hosted the "Buffalo Believes Classic" for the first time since the 2019-20 season, the city got a chance to once again be put on center stage in front of the entire Premier Hockey Federation audience. The Beauts took full advantage of the spotlight with an outstanding performance, defeating the top-ranked Toronto Six 3-0. Beyond the victory itself, it was the atmosphere that made it such a special event for everyone involved.
"The entire matinee was a true team-victory for us, and I think that was fueled by the atmosphere and our fans," said Beauts general manager Nate Oliver. "Every player contributed in a positive, exacting way. CJ getting her first career shutout was really special. Shutouts don't come across that often in our league, but every Beaut on the team was impactful in making that happen and getting us the 3-0 win. It was nice to be able to give our fans that type of performance."
The weather couldn't have been better for the game, as temperatures stayed between 45°F and 50°F. It was a bright and sunny day, not a cloud in the sky, and the wind didn't pick up until the halfway point of the game. The weather provided fans with the opportunity to enjoy the game without being too cold, while also still giving a nice outdoor winter feel to the game.
The views that Riverworks provided were amazing, and the energy from the crowd was incredible. From the bleachers to the balcony seats, Beauts fans brought a high level of energy, and it was a great sight to see for both fans and players alike.
"I felt it a lot in the second period, probably because I was on the end where fans were over the top of the net," said goaltender Carly Jackson. "I was just feeling it. There was a scrum in front of the net and I could just feel the energy in the building, and it just invigorated our team. Everybody was just so into (the game) - it was so fun."
Events like the "Buffalo Believes Classic" are a great way to help continue to grow the game, and it is very clear to see that the City of Buffalo is rallying around the Beauts. The game is not only big for the Beauts and the PHF, but also for the city itself With Buffalo being such a passionate sports town, fans can get the opportunity to see the team and really get into them as well.
"This is huge. It's a chance for us to interact with the community," said Jackson. "People get to see us in a different place. I think sometimes Northtown is a little bit north so this is kind of an area where people may walk in and say 'Oh, what's going on?' and see the Beauts, so I hope today made a big impact on the city and we're able to bring more people into our environment and into this culture because it's a great thing to be a part of."
