Buffalo Beauts News Release
(Brooklyn, N.Y.) - The Premier Hockey Federation today announced that four members of the Buffalo Beauts have been added to the 2022 PHF All-Star Showcase as chosen by the fans. Forwards Cassidy Vinkle, Kennedy Ganser, and Autumn MacDougall were the top three skaters to be selected, and Carly Jackson was the top goaltender listed in the online poll that was open for fan submissions January 4-9.
"The fans have spoken and we've heard the proud and loyal Buffalo Beauts supporters loud and clear," said PHF Commissioner Tyler Tumminia. "Congratulations to four more phenomenal athletes who have earned the opportunity to represent their devoted fanbase at the 2022 PHF All-Star Showcase."
Vinkle and MacDougall are part of a five-way tie for the Beauts scoring lead with four points, both with a goal and three assists through five games so far this 2021-22 season. Ganser has one assist in four appearances, and Jackson holds a save percentage of .904 while facing an average of 34 shots per game over four contests. Jackson and MacDougall are both in their second PHF seasons having been selected by the Beauts in the 2020 draft at number three and 14 respectively. Ganser and Vinkle are both PHF newcomers with the former chosen 13th overall by Buffalo in the 2021 draft, and the latter a free agent acquisition in the offseason.
Over 3,400 online nomination forms were submitted as part of the 2022 PHF All-Star Showcase Fan Vote. Fans could list up to three different skaters and one goaltender per nomination form. Vinkle was the overwhelming leader among skaters receiving recognition on close to 50% of all entries. Ganser and MacDougall were the next most popular votes among skaters appearing in roughly 25% and 22% of all submissions. Jackson received close to 45% of all votes at the goaltender position.
The group will join fellow Beauts forwards Taylor Accursi and Anjelica Diffendal, plus defenders Dominique Kremer and Marie-Jo Pelletier who were among the players selected by PHF coaches.
The skaters complete the list of 36 players who will comprise the three PHF All-Star Showcase rosters on January 29 in Toronto. The group features 21 forwards, 12 defenders, three goaltenders, and includes captains Shiann Darkangelo (Toronto Six), Jillian Dempsey (Boston Pride), and Allie Thunstrom (Minnesota Whitecaps) who will select the teams in a virtual draft to be conducted this week. Jackson will serve as the event's extra goaltender.
The three rosters determined through the virtual draft will be revealed this weekend live on ESPN+. The draft's first six picks (two per team) will be announced during the second intermission of games on Saturday, January 15 between the Metropolitan Riveters and Connecticut Whale at 1:00 p.m. ET and again during the Buffalo Beauts and Toronto Six matchup at 2:00 p.m. ET. The full rosters will be unveiled during the second intermission of games on Sunday, January 16 when the Beauts take on the Six starting at 2:00 p.m. ET, and the Riveters and Whale beginning at 6:00 p.m. ET.
The 2022 PHF All-Star Showcase will stream live in the United States exclusively on ESPN+, in Canada to TSN and TSN Direct subscribers, and through the ESPN International distribution network.
