The Prospect League has released its 2014 schedule the Springfield Sliders announced today. The Prospect League will once again feature 11 teams for 2014 with only one change in the make-up of the league.
The Slippery Rock Sliders (East Division) were sold and the new ownership has moved the franchise to Springfield, Ohio. The new team will play as the Champion City Kings partly to honor the City of Springfield's nickname and partly to avoid the confusion of having two Springfields in the league. The Kings will play at Carlton Davidson Stadium. Slippery Rock had struggled to draw crowds finishing 2nd to last in attendance in both 2012 and 2013.
The 2014 schedule again features 60 games for the Sliders. The schedule includes limited crossover play between the two divisions, something that was eliminated for the 2013 season. The Sliders will play Lorain County, OH, Richmond, IN, and Chillicothe, OH from the East Division.
Also returning for the 2014 season is a split season. The team's first 30 games will be included in the 1st half of the season with the final 30 games constituting the 2nd half of the season. The winners of each half will face each other in a best-of-three division championship with the winner advancing to the best-of-three league championship series.
The Sliders season opener is Thursday, May 29th at Hannibal and the home opener is scheduled for Saturday, May 31st. The Sliders will wrap up the regular season with a four game home stand August 2nd-5th.

The Springfield Sliders are members of the Prospect League with teams in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Their 60 game schedule begins in late May and runs into August. All Sliders home games are played at Robin Roberts Stadium located at 1415 N Grand Ave E in Springfield, IL.
