2014 Prospect League Schedule Released

(Lakeland, TN - November 11) The Prospect League announces its 2014 schedule today as the League prepares for its sixth season as one of the nation's top college summer leagues. Since 2009 the League has had nearly 150 players drafted by Major League Baseball organizations with a history making 50 in 2013.

The features of the 2014 schedule include:

Two divisions, East (Butler, Champion City, Chillicothe, Lorain County, Richmond & West Virginia); West (Danville, Hannibal, Quincy, Springfield, IL, & Terre Haute)

A split season

30 home games and 30 road games

No scheduled doubleheaders

Limited division crossover

Mid-season All-Star Game at Terre Haute

Best 2-of-3 Division Play-off Series

Best 2-of-3 Championship Series

For 2014 League fans will notice the new team playing as Champion City Kings, representing Springfield, OH and playing in Carleton Davidson Stadium in Springfield. The Kings are the former Slippery Rock Sliders.

The annual All-Star Game will be in Terre Haute and feature East vs West All-Stars ; the game along with a Home Run Derby will be held on Tuesday, July 8th. Details to be announced.

The 2014 post-season schedule features a potential of six games. The Division play-off will begin August 6 at the home of the second half winner with games 2 and 3 (if necessary) will be played at the home of the first half winner. The Championship Series will follow the Division play-off after a travel day on August 9. Game 1 will be played at the home ballpark of the team representing the losing division in the All-Star Game; August 11 will be a travel day; Games 2 and 3 (if necessary) will be played in the home of the team representing the winning division in the All-Star Game.
