Springfield Sliders News Release

The Sliders made their first roster announcement for the upcoming 2013 season by announcing the return of two starters from the 2012 campaign.

The Sliders announced that outfielder Wade Rothermich and pitcher TR Dunne will both be returning for another season in Springfield.

TR Dunne returns to the Sliders after making the Prospect League's All-Star team and taking home the Prospect League's Pitcher of the Week Award in late June last summer.

Dunne served mainly as the Sliders' closer in 2012 while appearing in 28 games. He would finish the season with 53 strikeouts in just 49.2 innings pitched while walking only 12 batters in that time. On the season Dunne recorded a 3.80 ERA and finished with eight saves and a 5-1 W-L record.

In two late season outings, including one start, Dunne pitched a total of 12 innings while giving up just one run on four hits and striking out 12. In his only start of the season he would take a no-hitter into the sixth inning in 7-1 Sliders victory over Terre Haute.

Dunne is currently a sophomore at Illinois Central College.

Rothermich, now a sophomore at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO, was a versatile asset to the Sliders in 2012 playing both in the outfield and pitching.

Appearing in 49 games at the plate for the Sliders last year Rothermich hit .290 with one HR and 15 RBI's and scored 32 runs. In addition, he would appear in seven games as a pitcher with five of those appearances as the starting pitcher.

Rothermich would end up pitching over 31 innings for the Sliders gathering 22 strikeouts and only 9 walks along the way. He would finish with a 3-2 record and a 3.97 ERA solidifying himself as a valuable versatile asset for Springfield.

"We are very excited to have TR and Wade back for another season. Their contributions to the ball club last year were tremendous and we expect greater things from them this season. As a team, we will lean on them heavily for leadership in the clubhouse and on the field," said Pete Romero, Field Manager for the Sliders.

The Springfield Sliders are members of the Prospect League with teams in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Their 60 game schedule begins in late May and runs into August. All Sliders home games are played at Robin Roberts Stadium located at 1415 N Grand Ave E in Springfield, IL.
