Springfield Sliders News Release
The Springfield Sliders lost the second game of their two game series with the Terre Haute Rex tonight 7-3 at Robin Roberts Stadium. Terre Haute jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning, and added a third run in the third to go up 3-0. Springfield closed the gap to 3-2 in the fourth after a solo home run by LF Mike Fitzgerald and an RBI double by C Sean Gerber. Terre Haute's lead would then balloon up to 6-2 before the Sliders would pull back a run in the eighth inning. This time it was 1B Matt Tellor who hit a solo home run. However, the Rex would get that run right back in the top of the ninth, and their bullpen shutdown the Sliders in the final frame. The win by Terre Haute gives them a split in the first series between these two teams. The Sliders and Rex will meet for a two game series again next week at Robin Roberts Stadium, with those two games on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Sliders will be on the road this weekend as they take on the Quincy Gems on Saturday and Sunday. First pitch tomorrow is set for 6:35 and the game can be heard on the Springfield Sliders' Ustream channel.
