June 10, 2012 - Prospect League (Prospect)
Springfield Sliders News Release
The Springfield Sliders fell tonight to the Danville Dans, 11-4, in the first of two meetings this weekend at Robin Roberts Stadium. Both teams got off to hot starts by scoring two runs in the very first inning. The Dans kept it up by scoring two more in the second and then four in the third to take an 8-2 lead. From there, the Sliders would cut it to 8-3, but they wouldn't get any closer the rest of the way. Danville went up 10-3 with two more runs in the sixth, before Springfield cut it to 10-4 on a pinch hit RBI double by newcomer Cade Stallings in the seventh. Danville tacked on one more in the eighth to finish out the scoring for the night. Both teams are now 2-9, and both of Danville's wins this season have come against Springfield. The Sliders will look to end their three game losing streak tomorrow when the same two teams meet here at Robin Roberts Stadium again. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 and can be heard on the Sliders' Ustream channel.
The Springfield Sliders are members of the Prospect League, playing at historic Robin Roberts Stadium. The Sliders are members of the Western Division along with the Danville (IL) Dans, DuBois County (IN) Bombers, Hannibal (MO) Cavemen, Quincy (IL) Gems, and Terre Haute (IN) Rex.
