Springfield Sliders News Release

The Springfield Sliders finished off the 2012 Prospect League season with a 10-2 loss to the Dubois County Bombers tonight at League Stadium in Huntingburg, IN. The Bombers got things going right away, scoring two runs in the very first inning to take the lead. The big inning for Dubois County was the third, when they scored seven runs, all after two were out. The Sliders looked like they were about to get out of the inning, but an error was made, and the Bombers' next seven hitters all reached either by a hit or a walk, putting their lead at 9-0 after three innings. The Sliders' first run would come in the top of the fourth, when CF Ryan Aper led the inning off with a double, going to third on an error in the outfield. Aper then scored on an RBI groundout by LF Chase Hainline. The Bombers' final run of the night came in the bottom of the sixth, putting their lead at 10-1. The Sliders got a lead-off single in the eighth inning by C David Maziarz, and he would eventually come around to score after back to back singles by DH Matt Tellor and 1B Reagan Fowler, and then another error in the Dubois County outfield. Ryan Billo, the Bombers' starting pitcher, pitched a complete game, with just one of the two runs allowed being earned, to pick up the victory. The Sliders finish the 2012 season with an overall record of 24-36. The Springfield Sliders would like to thank all their great fans and sponsors for a great 2012 season!
