2012 Prospect League Post-Season Play Begins Tonight

The Prospect League, a college wood bat summer league, has completed its 4th season and now heads into it annual post-season games. For 2012, the League has expanded its Championship Series from a one game, sudden victory format to a best 2 out of 3 series. The Divisional Play-off continues to be a one and done game.
The Division games will be played tonight in the ballparks of the First-Half Champions:
PL/West - Terre Haute Rex at Dubois County Bombers
7:15, League Stadium, Huntingburg, IN
Pitching Match-up
Tom Strunc (5-2, 2.99), Terre Haute
Alex Britt (5-1, 1.85), Dubois County
PL/East - Chillicothe Paints at West Virginia Miners
7:05, Linda K Epling Stadium
Pitching Match-up
Chris Thomas (7-0, 2.35), Chillicothe
Sam Lewis (8-1, 2.70), West Virginia
The West Virginia Miners won the First-Half and Second-Half Championships, so, under League rules the East team with the best overall record makes the Division Play-off game. For 2012 the Chillicothe Paints with an overall W/L record of 36-24 will challenge the Miners. In the West, Dubois County won the First-Half with a record of 20-9; The Rex took the Second-Half by 5.5 games over Quincy.
The Championship Series will begin August 9 in the East at the winner of the Paints/Miners game; the 10th will be a travel day and Game Two of the Series will be played at the winner of the Rex/Bombers game. Game Three of the Championship Series, if necessary, will be played in the West. Game times will be announced following Tuesday's results.
