Sliders Announce Four More Roster Additions

Springfield Sliders News Release
The Sliders sign two from Point Loma Nazarene University and two from Grand Canyon University.
From Point Loma comes Kyle Desimone, a right handed hitting junior infielder and Michael Randel, a freshman catcher.
Desimone made 31 starts this season for Point Loma and is hitting .224 with 1 HR and 15 RBI while displaying a knack for stealing bases going 10-for-10 on the year in stolen base attempts.
Kyle is a graduate of Stockdale HS in Bakersfield, CA where he was named second team all-state. He finished his HS career with a .446 with 16 HR's and 114 RBI's. He was also a member of the National Honor Society.
Randel came to Point Loma as a freshman catcher and has seen limited playing time in his first year seeing action in 25 games. Randel batted .133 with 3RBI's on the year.
The Alpine, CA native was named first team All-Grossmont Hills League and first team All-East County as a senior in high school when he hit .406 with 10 doubles and 29 RBI's. He was also a two-time All-Academic selection.
From Grand Canyon University comes redshirt sophomore Lucas Leifeld and senior Austin Buelow.
Leifeld sat out the 2013 GCU season with a shoulder injury in his non-throwing arm. Rested, healed and ready to play for Springfield this summer Lucas brings experience at the catcher position. In 2012 he started 26 games for GCU and batted .238 with 18 RBI's while committing only one error. Leifeld is from Tucson, AZ.
Austin comes to Springfield from Glendale, AZ with eleven appearances on the season in 7.1 innings pitched. Although not a lot of innings worked he held batters to a .167 batting average while recording a 2.45 ERA
The Springfield Sliders are members of the Prospect League with teams in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Their 60 game schedule begins in late May and runs into August. All Sliders home games are played at Robin Roberts Stadium located at 1415 N Grand Ave E in Springfield, IL.
