Sliders Announce Coaching Staff

Springfield Sliders' manager Pete Romero has announced his coaching staff for the 2012 season. Andrew Kachel and Vic Aure will serve as Romero's assistants this summer at Robin Roberts Stadium.
Kachel, 24, just completed a stint as a graduate assistant coach at Colorado State University - Pueblo. The CSU-Pueblo graduate played high school baseball at Doherty High school in Colorado Springs, CO and collegiately at both Northeastern Junior College and Montana State - Billings. While at Northeastern, Kachel was part of NJC's Region IX Championship team. He has also coached at the High School level at Air Academy High School and St. Mary's High School in Colorado. Andrew makes his home in Colorado Springs, CO.
Aure returns to Robin Roberts Stadium for his second season as a Sliders' coach. The Petersburg, IL resident is a 19-year Air Force veteran, and a seasoned veteran of the baseball coaching ranks as well. In addition to his experience with the Sliders, he has coached high school, American Legion and collegiate levels. He has also been an associate scout for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Vic and his wife Kim (USAF ret.) have two sons; Chris who is a former minor league pitcher and Phillip.
"I am excited to have these two fine coaches to assist me in Springfield this season," said Romero "I know the level of dedication that both of these men posses and I know that they will strive to make every member of our team a better player."
Romero and his staff will welcome the Sliders to town on May 24 and the first full workout will be held on May 25 at Robin Roberts Stadium. Opening day is Tuesday, May 29.
The Springfield Sliders are members of the Prospect League, playing at historic Robin Roberts Stadium. The Sliders are members of the Western Division along with the Danville (IL) Dans, DuBois County (IN) Bombers, Hannibal (MO) Cavemen, Quincy (IL) Gems, and Terre Haute (IN) Rex.
