Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

The Waterloo Black Hawks could not recover from a slow start Friday, falling against the Indiana Ice 6-3 at Young Arena.

Mike Cichy scored three times in the first, including a goal at the 20 minute mark. Nick Larson converted a power play opportunity to put Waterloo on the board midway through the opening period.

On another power play almost exactly a period later, Larson was tackled into goalie Brett Bennett. Dan Sova fired the puck into the open net, but the goal was disallowed because of the pileup in the crease.

Indiana piled on three more goals in the third from Shane Berschbach, Brandon Richardson, and Garrett Kennedy. Ben Miller and Lee Moffie put the puck in the net, each within the final two-and-a-half minutes, to draw the score closer.

A sellout crowd of 2,992 was on hand for the game, matching the franchise record as Black Hawk fans delivered the 17th capacity attendance of the season.

The Hawks cap their weekend in Green Bay Saturday, visiting the Gamblers at 7:05.
