Slammers To Sign Tuscaloosa Native

PELHAM, Ala. – The Alabama Slammers today announced that the team will be holding a media conference in Tuscaloosa on Thursday to introduce the next Alabama Slammer, a Tuscaloosa native.

The media conference will take place at Wilhagans Sports Grill (2209 4th St., Tuscaloosa, AL) in conjunction with the Tuscaloosa Hockey Booster Club, the T-Town Puckers, on Thursday, September 25, 2003 at 2:00 pm.

Fans are also invited to attend a reception party from 5:00pm to 7:00 pm at Willhagens to celebrate the signing of Tuscaloosa's first ever Professional Hockey Player. Recently signed Alabama Slammers Bobby Quinnell and Jeff Cheeseman will be on hand to meet fans and sign autographs. Tuscaloosa Mayor Al DuPont will also be in attendance to make a special presentation during the reception party.

The Slammers open the 2003 - 2004 campaign at home at the Pelham Civic Complex on Friday, November 7th against the Jacksonville Barracudas. The Slammers will also face the Lakeland Loggerheads, Macon Trax, Miami Manatees, and Orlando Seals in the inaugural season of the World Hockey Association 2 (WHA2). All games will be broadcast on www.irn.fm.
