Slammers Bats Explode in 11-4 Win Saturday Night

Joliet, IL - The Joliet Slammers presented by ATI Physical Therapy beat the Southern Illinois Miners (7-7) 11-4 in dominant fashion Saturday night recording 19 hits.

The Slammers started their scoring on a balk in the first inning that plated a run followed by a Justin Garcia sacrifice fly that made it 2-0. The Miners evened the score at two in the top of the 2nd.

Justin Garcia and R.J. Thompson each had an RBI single in the bottom of the 3rd pushing the Slammers lead to 4-2.

Joliet's offensive tear continued into the 4th inning with a Danny Zardon RBI single, Dom Iero's RBI walk with bases loaded and a sacrifice fly by Ridge Hoopii-Haslam that scored a run extending the lead to 7-2.

The Slammers continued their scoring in the bottom of the 6th with a sacrifice fly by Travis Bolin that scored a run as well as a Cody Clark RBI groundout making it 9-3.

Travis Bolin and Cody Clark hit back to back solo home runs in the bottom of the 8th pushing the lead to 11-3.

Tonight's Merchants and Manufacturers Bank Player of the Game is Danny Zardon who went 4-4 with two runs, an RBI and a walk.

The Slammers are back home against the Miners tomorrow at 1:05 p.m. to wrap up the three-game series.
