San Jose, CA. The ABA San Jose Skyrockets won its sixth game in a row bringing its record to 13-3 with an exciting win over the Bellingham Slam, 114-106, at the San Jose Civic Auditorium. It was a close game throughout with San Jose leading 26-22 at the end of the first quarter and tied at 48 at the half. Jason Smith led the Skyrockets with 13 points in the first half as the game went back and forth. The largest lead by San Jose was 34-25 with 7:28 left in the half. However, Bellingham charged back to tie the game with just 3 seconds to go. The Slam's Brandon Hartley tallied 12 points in the half to keep the score close.

The third quarter was typical of how the two teams played this two game series. San Jose finally built what appeared to be a comfortable 19-point lead at 70-51 with 6:16 remaining, but pesky Bellingham raced back by outscoring the Skyrocketws 24-5 to tie the game at 75 with :28 seconds left. San Jose finished the quarter leading 76-75.

The fourth quarter saw the Skyrockets take control by staying in front the entire quarter. Lamar Castile hit a clutch "3-D" jumper with 2:20 remaining to keep San Jose in the lead 102-95. That seems to be enough as the lead increased to the final score of 114-106. Jason Smith led San Jose scoring with 29 points while Lamar Castile chipped in 23. Bellingham's Brandon Hartley had 30 points and Kevin Woodberry added 23.

The biggest games of the year for the Skyrockets will be next weekend against Tim Hardaway and the Florida Pit Bulls as they battle next Friday and Saturday at the San Jose Civic Auditorium.
