Minot Skyrockets News Release
Minot, ND - November 1, 2007 - The Minot Skyrockets are pleased to announce the signing of Jeremy Overstreet, pending league approval. Overstreet was the Skyrockets 3rd round pick (28th overall) in the 2007 CBA Rookie Draft.
Overstreet is a 6-11 center from Paine University in Augusta, Georgia. In 2006-2007, he averaged 4.9 ppg, 9.0 rpg, and 4.0 bpg. He led the SIAC in field goal percentage (56%), rebounds (234), and blocked shots (105). Overstreet is a defensive specialist, focusing on rebounding and blocked shots. His play mirrors that of Kenyon Gamble, starting center for the Skyrockets in 2006-07, who was named to the CBA All-Defensive Team.
"We are very happy to have Jeremy in camp. Everybody needs big bodies, and we hope that he fills our needs. We have to keep one rookie on the roster, and Jeremy will be competing against Brad Brickens and Courtney Bohannon for that spot so this should be a competitive camp," said Head Coach Chris Daleo.
Overstreet is the twelfth player signed to the Skyrockets roster for training camp. Camp begins on November 8th, and the roster will be cut down to 10 players by November 14th. The Skyrockets start their season on the road against the Butte Daredevils. They head to Montana for games on November 16th and 17th and then go to Atlanta on November 28th. The home opener at the Auditorium will be on November 30th. Season tickets for all 24 home games are available by calling 839-SLAM or visiting the Skyrockets in the lower level of the Minot Municipal Auditorium.
