Skyrockets Sign Northwestern University Standout

Minot, ND - October 4, 2006 - The Minot Skyrockets are pleased to announce the signing of Jitim Young, a 6'2"/190 lb. point guard from Northwestern University. Young is a strong point guard with an excellent track record. Jitim started the 2004-05 season in Greece averaging 9.8 points and 4.0 rebounds. He also played in the Belgian League, averaging 12.6 points and 4.0 rebounds in 21 games.

He finished his collegiate career ranked sixth on Northwestern's all-time scoring list with 1,521 points. Young also ranks as the school's all-time leader in games started (117) and ranks second in minutes played (3,849), second in steals (215), tied for second in games played (117), fifth in field goals made (548), sixth in three-point field goals made (108), and tenth in free throws made (317). In 2004, he was named to the All-Big 10 team and the Big 10 All-Tournament Team. In order to make room for Jitim on the roster, Kevin Sheppard and Pele Paeley were waived by the Skyrockets.

Jitim Young and the rest of the Minot Skyrockets will be opening on the road against the Utah Eagles on December 1st. They will return home to play a double-header against the Indiana Alley Cats on Sunday, December 3rd (4:05pm) and Monday, December 4th (7:05pm).
