Minot Skyrockets News Release
Minot, ND - November 20, 2006 - The Chicago high school legend with a 48-inch vertical will be soaring for the Skyrockets fans this year. Ronnie Fields is a 6' 4" / 225 lbs. CBA veteran guard who has played for Head Coach Chris Daleo and the Rockford Lightning for the last four years. Fields has led the Lightning to four straight play-off appearances. In 2005-2006, Fields averaged 22.2 ppg and led the league with 2.3 steals per game. Fields is the only player in the history of the CBA to lead the league in both scoring and steals in two straight seasons. Fields conquered this feat in the 2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons. At the start of last season, Fields was ranked 45th in scoring and 13th in steals among All-Time CBA Leaders. In 1997, Fields was the CBA Slam Dunk Champion and was a CBA All-Star in 2003-04 and 2005-06.
Also signed to the team was Ray Cunningham, a 6' 7" guard/forward. Cunningham played this past summer for the WBA's Rome Gladiators. NBA Scout Harold Ellis recommended Cunningham to Head Coach Chris Daleo. Cunningham helped lead the Gladiators to their second straight WBA Championship. Collegiately, Cunningham played at Murray State University (Kentucky).
"We had to shore up our perimeter play, so we brought in two veterans who are good perimeter defenders. We've made some upgrades over the last couple of days. The season is rapidly approaching, and I felt that we had to bring a couple of veterans," said Head Coach Chris Daleo.
The final roster will be set on Wednesday, November 29th, with the first home game being played on Sunday, December 3rd.
Season tickets are still available for the 2006-2007 season. Several pricing options are available, and ticket holders have the opportunity to pick their seats on a first-come, first-serve basis, but seats are filling up quickly. Single game tickets are also on sale. Pricing and seating information is available online at www.MinotSkyrockets.com. Fans can purchase tickets to any of the Skyrockets' 24 home games.
