Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry News Release
LAWTON, OKLA- The Lawton-Fort Sill Cavs faced the visiting Skyrockets for Game 2 of the finals series in action at the Great Plains Coliseum. The Skyrockets hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to beat the Cavs 92-89.
Game 2 started slowly just like the finals opener on Saturday. They Skyrockets went on a 7-0 run in the first three minutes of the game. The first quarter was won by the Skyrockets pounding the paint and drawing fouls scoring 13 point at the free throw line. They would lead by as many as 10 points.
The Cavs would start to edge their way back late in the second quarter. Marvin Phillips scored a bucket to tie the game for the first time, but they would never gain the lead. Phillips and the Cavs would head to the locker room trailing by 3 points.
After an entertaining halftime, the Skyrockets would continue to leave the Cavs behind, but Richardson's team would not go down without a fight. Daryan Selvy would keep the game close scoring 9 points in the quarter and 19 points on the night.
Selvy helped the Cavs gain a 6 point lead in the fourth quarter, but with a string of bad calls the lead slowly disappeared as the Skyrockets hit their free throws.
With two seconds left on the clock, Fields would grab an inbound pass and hit a buzzer beating 3-point shot.
The Cavs will travel to North Dakota to face Minot on their home court. The series is even at 1-1.
Catch them in action Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. on a live webcast or tune in to Magic 95. A Cavs watch party will be at Independence Place Apartments located at 3502 E. Gore Blvd.
