Minot Skyrockets News Release

Albany, NY - February 16, 2007 - The Minot Skyrockets extended their winning streak tonight and continued their fight for first place in the American Division. After a dismal start to the season and dancing around the .500 mark, the Skyrockets have now won 10 straight games and are 20-11 on the season.

The Skyrockets were taking on the conference leading Albany Patroons on their home court tonight, but it was Minot who dominated on the floor. Minot looked strong from the start and jumped out to a 41-19 lead at the end of the first quarter. Albany won the second quarter by two points, but Minot still led by 20 points at the half. The Patroons made a late run in the fourth quarter, but it was Minot who came out ahead of a 124-112 score and took 5 of the possible 7 quarter points.

Guard Desmond Ferguson led the team from the 3-point line, hitting 10 of 13 from behind the line and putting 34 points on the board. But Desmond didn't do it alone as three other Skyrockets had double-doubles on the evening. Point guard Darnell Miller guided the team with 10 points and 10 assists. Guard Ray Cunningham added 22 points and 10 rebounds, and center Steve Castleberry had 12 points and 10 rebounds. David Harrison also had a strong showing with 21 points and 9 rebounds.

The key difference in tonight's game was Minot's rebounding. They beat the Patroons to boards, pulling down 60 rebounds compared to Albany's 32 rebounds. The team also distributed the ball well with 7 players hitting double digits.

On Albany's side of the ball, Chris Sockwell led the team with 29 points and Jamario Moon added on another 27.

The Skyrockets next game is on Monday, February 19th when they meet up with the Pittsburgh Xplosion in Pennsylvania. They will return to Minot for two days and then head back to Albany for a two-game series against the Patroons on February 23rd and 24th.
