Minot Skyrockets News Release
Minot, ND - December 15, 2007 - The Minot Skyrockets are pleased to announce the signing of Ray Cunningham, pending league approval. Cunningham, a native of Louisville, Kentucky, played for the Skyrockets in their inaugural season.
Cunningham was a starter for the Skyrockets all year and finished the season with 17.4 points per game and 7.4 rebounds per game. He was selected as a CBA All-Star for the American Conference. At the end of the 2006-07 season, he was 9th in scoring and 6th in rebounding in the league and was named to the All-CBA Second Team. He was also selected for the CBA All-Defensive team on account of his outstanding rebounding, including an average of 2.5 offensive rebounds, and his ability to guard multiple positions.
"It is extremely fortunate to be able to pick-up an All-Star in your opponent's back yard. We were able to get off the plane and onto the bus in Kentucky. We picked Ray up at his front door and headed to the hotel. It's a great opportunity for the Skyrockets and for Ray. As an All-Star and now a veteran of the league, we anticipate great things from him this year," said Head Coach Chris Daleo.
Cunningham will play his first game of the season with the Skyrockets when they take on the East Kentucky Miners on Sunday. Fans can watch the game online via WebTelevision. To access the broadcast, go to the league website at www.cbahoopsonline.com.
