June 16, 2009 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
Sussex Skyhawks News Release

The Sussex Skyhawks return home to Augusta after facing Worcester and Quebec last week. The homestand begins Tuesday, June 16, where the Skyhawks will take on New Hampshire. Game time is 7:05pm. The teams will be facing each other for the first time this season. The night will also feature the first of two reading program nights. Due to an overwhelming record response, the Skyhawks have added Tuesday, June 17 as an additional reading date in addition to the original Wednesday, June 17 date. Also being recognized for their work are 2500 children in schools throughout the area including Pope John, Reverend Brown, Immaculate Conception, Lounsberry Hollow, and Halstead Middle School who have earned tickets to Thursday, June 18th's game for their support with Foodstock, an organization working with the United Way to collect food to restock pantries in the community. There has been a high demand for tickets, which has resulted in five games this week being sold out.

"Score an ‘A', Score a Ticket" began four years ago with the simple intention of rewarding students for their academic achievements. What began as an idea has turned into a countywide success and is continuing to grow. With a record enrollment of 41 schools and over 10,000 students this year, the program has been a major success and has soared past expectations. Students in the program are from Sussex, Morris, Warren, Passaic, and Pike Counties. "Score an "A", Score a Ticket" is completely free for schools to participate. The program can be adapted to any curriculum and teachers are given the freedom to adjust the program to the needs of their classroom. The program is a great opportunity to reward students for the academic achievements. Schools are encouraged to become involved in this great opportunity for their students. Please contact the Skyhawks office at 973-300-1000 for more information about the program or to request an enrollment form. Also featured on Tuesday's game is 2 for Tuesday, where 2 tickets, hot dogs, chips, and soda are $22. After a three game series with New Hampshire, the Skyhawks will face the Brockton Rox, starting on Friday, June 19. Game time is set for 6:35pm. There will also be a bandana giveaway for the first 1,000 fans in attendance as well as fireworks following the game. The Skyhawks began the 2009 season at Brockton, where they ended the four game series with a record of 3-1.
