Ottawa SkyHawks News Release

If the game were to finish at the half, the Ottawa SkyHawks would have beaten the Windsor Express for the first time in three games with a score of 54-45. However, by the time the final buzzer went off the SkyHawks lost by 3 points with a final score of 88-85 for the Windsor Express.Windsor started the 2nd half by dropping 34 points in the 3rd quarter alone. The SkyHawks came back and retaliated, putting on the best defensive plays in they have displayed in the entire season thus far, holding the Express to a mere 9 points in the 4th quarter.

It was a back and forth lead and another nail bitter of a game going up against the National Basketball League of Canada's top scorer, Stefan Bonneau, who averages 24.22 points per game. The first game Ottawa allowed Bonneau to get 28 points, and tonight with Justin Tubbs on him, the SkyHawks held him to 18 points.

Coach Jackson, who's come up against this team for the second time since he started as head coach last week, says "The guys have something to be proud of the way they played tonight against this very physical team".

Jermaine Johnson dubbed the SkyHawks "˜Double Double Machine' as he hits double digits in scores and rebounds for the fourth time this season says "we had a great first half but we just couldn't keep it up in the second half with too many turnovers.

The 6'7 forward, Fred Sturdivant who scored 10 points in tonight's game added "we played well; we have to be able to play through adversity and continue to play hard and smart".

Technical Director, Merrick Palmer was pleased with the defensive principles displayed tonight. "Coach Jackson has laid down the ground work for success, whereas in one week he's implemented defensive accountability, holding a team to 88 points that averages 100 points per game".

Owner Gus Takkale, who wasn't able to make the road trip, did watch the game on live streaming had this to say, "Although it's technically a loss, I like how we played in the second quarter and more importantly in the fourth. Playing physical and holding a strong team like Windsor to single digits (in scoring) in the last quarter are very positive indicators of what we want to accomplish moving forward. Let's see what we do with Brampton tomorrow night"
