Ottawa SkyHawks News Release

The Ottawa SkyHawks played their first home game of the New Year at the Canadian Tire Centre tonight. Although the SkyHawks came off a big win last night against defending champs London, they couldn't continue the momentum at home. Having faced Brampton seven times this season and beating them at home in all three matchups, the Skyhawks fought hard to keep that home turf winning record. They started strong for the first quarter, ending it in a 25©24 lead.

SkyHawks attempting to make it rain with three point shots throughout the game, failed to catch up with Brampton's fast©paced style.

Mike Rose completed the and©1 to end the first half with the Skyhawks down 56©49. The Skyhawks came out hard in the second half led by Ryan Anderson. Anderson drove hard to the net, laid the ball in and earned a trip to the line to make it a three point play. Justin Tubbs finished the 3rd by driving to the net and hitting the layup to bring the Skyhawks within a basket, 74©72.

Final quarter was another nail bitter with the SkyHawks down four points with just under a minute to go. The tempo picked up as the Skyhawks tried to claw their way back. The late push wasn't enough as Brampton held on to win, 111©105.

Coach Jackson said 'having our big guy Jamie Vanderbeken injured was a big loss, he stretches the defense and allows guys to make plays on offense'. He went on to give kudos to the Bampton team and coaching style, 'they play with spirit and competiveness, this would definitely be another great match up in the playoffs'.

Next home game will be played at C¨¦gep de l'Outaouais, (333 Boulevard de la Cit¨¦-des-Jeunes, Gatineau, QC J8Y 6M4) as part of their community outreach initiative.

- Monday January 27th @ 7:30 pm vs London Lightning
