Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release

Sioux Falls, S.D. - The Sioux Falls Skyforce defeated the Erie BayHawks 125-86 Tuesday night at the Sioux Falls Arena. Sioux Falls scored a season-high 48 points in the first quarter - just short of their franchise record of 53 in a quarter - and went on to defeat Erie for their second-largest margin of victory (39) in franchise history.

Sioux Falls (11-29) looked like the team riding the momentum of a five-game winning streak from the opening tip. After Keith Benson's jumper for the first points of the game, Sioux Falls got back-to-back dunks from Benson and Marqus Blakely to capture momentum immediately. Anthony Mason, Jr. scored 19 of his 26 points in the first quarter and Sioux Falls outscored Erie 48-17.

Trying to regain any momentum in the second quarter, Erie (20-18) was able to slow down the scoring spree by Sioux Falls. However, they were unable to generate any offense of their own, scoring just 16 points in the second as Sioux Falls built the lead to 41 and led 70-33 at halftime.

Things didn't get any better for Erie in the second half as Sioux Falls continued to play as if it were a close game. Sioux Falls achieved their largest lead of the game in the fourth (44) and went on to hand Erie their most lopsided defeat of the season.

In only 23 minutes, Mason, Jr. scored 26 points and also added five rebounds and three assists. Trey Gilder led the team in scoring (31) and rebounding (13) while Blakely finished with 24 points and 11 rebounds.

D.J. Kennedy led Erie in scoring with 17 points and also grabbed nine rebounds. Kyle Goldcamp added 15 points and nine rebounds.

Sioux Falls visits Dakota tomorrow at 7 p.m. CT. Erie continues its road trip at Fort Wayne on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET.
