Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Colorado Springs Sky Sox (78-55) silenced the Round Rock Express (63-71) on Thursday night, picking up a 4-0 win in the series finale.

Express starter RHP David Ledbetter (3-4, 4.31) suffered the loss after giving up three runs on five hits in six innings of work. On the winning side, Colorado Springs RHP Taylor Jungmann (9-2, 2.59) tossed six strong innings. The former University of Texas standout issued only five hits and a walk while striking out five.

The Sky Sox found early success against Ledbetter. LF Kyle Wren lined a solo home run to right field on the fourth pitch of the game, giving his team an immediate 1-0 lead.

The visitors stretched the gap to 3-0 with a pair of runs in the second inning. RF Kirk Nieuwenhuis notched a one-out single prior to a Tyler Heineman walk. Following a Wren single loaded the bases, DH Ivan De Jesus sent a two-run single into center field.

The Sky Sox tacked one more run in the eighth as 2B Nate Orf doubled off E-Train LHP Joely Rodriguez before 3B Nick Noonan singled home his team's fourth run of the night.

Round Rock wasn't without scoring chances. The E-Train loaded the bases in the fifth as RF Preston Beck and 2B Phil Gosselin recorded back-to-back two-out singles prior to a Jurickson Profar walk. However, Jungmann recovered to strike out 3B Brett Hayes to neutralize the threat.

An inning later, DH Ryan Rua singled before a Ronald Guzman double put two runners in scoring position with two outs. Jungmann again recovered, enticing C A.J. Jimenez into a groundout that ended the inning. The Sky Sox bullpen teamed up to retire the final 10 E-Train hitters in consecutive order to end the game.

Round Rock now turns their focus to the Oklahoma City Dodgers for the final series of the year. Former Express and current Dodgers RHP Eddie Gamboa (2-1, 6.66) is scheduled to face E-Train RHP James Dykstra (2-3, 7.38). First pitch at Dell Diamond is set for 7:05 p.m.
