
Sky Defeat Sun at Home in Carrington's Return, 94-88

The Chicago Sky defeated the Connecticut Sun 94-88 in Wintrust Arena on Thursday, July 30. The Sky are now 10-18 on the season, 2-9 against the Eastern Conference, 6-7 at home and 36-40 against the Sun all time.
In DiJonai Carrington 's Sky debut, Carrington dropped nine points, pulled down three rebounds and blocked a shot in her 17 minutes on the court. Center Kamilla Cardoso led the Sky in scoring with a team-high 26 points, attributed primarily to her fourth-quarter push from the free-throw line. She nailed 10 of her season-high 11 attempts from the charity stripe and cashed an additional 66.7% of her shots from the field.
Rookie phenom Sydney Taylor dropped 14 points and a career-high six assists with a 50% mark from the field in her 30 minutes of play. Guard Natasha Cloud tallied her 13th game this season scoring in double digits, notching 11 points, five assists and two steals.
Chloe Bibby was once again efficient off the bench for the Sky, contributing eight points, two assists, a steal and a block. Jacy Sheldon contributed a key seven points, two rebounds and a steal while shooting 100% from the line in just 14 minutes played.
Five of Connecticut's players saw double digits in tonight's game. Aneesah Morrow notched a team-high 21 points and seven rebounds. Securing her third double-double of the season, Olivia Nelson-Ododa tallied 16 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Guard Leïla Lacan had an all-around effort with 12 points, six assists, five rebounds and two steals. Rounding out the offensive effort was Diamond Miller with 14 points and Charlisse Leger-Walker with 10.

NEXT UP: The Sky head into the second matchup of their five-game homestand on Saturday, Aug. 1 in Wintrust Arena against the Las Vegas Aces. This is the third matchup between the two teams this season. Chicago holds a 21-31 all-time record against the franchise.
The Sky forced overtime in their most recent meeting against the Aces on July 3 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, but ultimately fell 98-90.
Chicago saw five players score in double figures in the overtime push. Skylar Diggins led the team's scorers, dropping 19 points on a 53.8% clip from the floor in her 34 minutes of play, while Kamilla Cardoso tallied her sixth double-double of the season with 16 points and ten rebounds along with four assists and two blocks. 2025 WNBA champion NaLyssa Smith yielded 29 points and eight rebounds, while six-time All-Star Chelsea Gray sealed the game for Las Vegas with two key jumpers in the dying seconds of overtime.
On June 28 at the United Center, Cardoso and Azurá Stevens each scored 24 points for the Sky. Cardoso registered a 66.7% clip from the field, while Stevens contributed three three-pointers in the 107-99 loss. Four-time MVP and three-time WNBA champion A'ja Wilson made WNBA history this outing, becoming the first player in league history to put up 30 points, 15 rebounds and four steals in a game. Five-time All-Star Jackie Young tallied 28 points and eight assists, while going 64.2% from the field.
On the season, the Aces lead the league in field goal percentage at a 49.3% mark from the floor. Wilson leads the league in scoring, averaging 26.2 points per outing on 53.7% shooting from the field in 31.6 minutes of action. Young is averaging 17.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game on a 47.9% clip. Smith is contributing 12.7 points and leads the team in field goal percentage, shooting 66.7% from the floor.
The game between Chicago and Las Vegas tips off at 12 p.m. CT inside Wintrust Arena and will be broadcast on CBS.
