Sky Blue FC News Release
Tinton Falls, N.J. - Sky Blue FC (2-2-1, 7 points) of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) announced today that it will be partnering with Garden State Equality in a collective effort to promote Sky Blue FC Pride Night on Sunday, June 19th, when the team plays host to Seattle Reign FC at Yurcak Field.
"We are pleased to create this partnership with Garden State Equality," said Tony Novo, Sky Blue FC President & General Manager. "Our 2016 Pride Night is really shaping up to be an incredible celebration, and adding Garden State Equality will make it an even greater night. We look forward to seeing everyone at Pride Night on June 19th as we enjoy a great match of soccer while also coming together to promote equality and non-discrimination among us all."
Garden State Equality (GSE) is New Jersey's largest civil rights organization. Since its founding in 2004, New Jersey has enacted 216 state, county and local laws for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community. Though best known for a successful campaign to win marriage equality in 2013, GSE has also defended and won a wide range of other civil rights milestones. Outside of marriage equality, their most recent victory was the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights, a law in which they drafted and led a successful statewide campaign.
"Garden State Equality, New Jersey's statewide LGBT civil rights advocacy and education organization, is thrilled to partner with Sky Blue FC for its second annual Pride Night," said Christian Fuscarino, Executive Director of Garden State Equality. "GSE is excited to be a part of a safe, affirming and supportive environment while watching high-quality professional women's soccer in New Jersey. We look forward to a fun-filled evening and a great game the day after our Equality Walk in Asbury Park!"
As noted above, Sky Blue FC will be celebrating with Garden State Equality when the team hosts its Pride Night on Sunday, June 19th. The New Jersey club will welcome Seattle Reign FC to Yurcak Field that evening, with kickoff set for 6:00 PM. Tickets for Pride Night are available for purchase now, and Sky Blue FC also has a Pride Scarf for sale in its online shop.
